Who we are and why are we here
Hi I’m Christina Herron and I started Herron & Hen as a refuge from the corporate rush and in an effort to return to what truly matters: living closely with the land, caring for animals, and savoring the small, nourishing pleasures of everyday life.
A lifelong lover of plants and animals, I transformed a simple backyard in Indian Trail, NC into a flourishing, intentional urban farm. What began with a handful of backyard chickens grew into a richer, more diverse homestead—quail for delicate eggs, rows of fragrant herbs, sun-ripened tomatoes, beds of seasonal flowers, and soon, the gentle buzz of a new beehive.
My approach is hands-on and deeply personal. I tend to each patch of soil and every bird with the same thoughtful attention, guided by a belief that food should be grown with care and shared with joy. I delight in the ritual of morning egg collecting, coffee in hand, in brushing mint leaves between her fingers before tucking them into a summer drink and in the beauty of seasonal flowers as the garden ebbs and flows with new colors and life.
My vision is expansive yet rooted in simple pleasures. There’s always another idea—another crop to try, another pollinator habitat to create—and I invite you along for the journey. Through fresh produce, vibrant herbs, and lovingly raised eggs, I hopes to restore a sense of connection: to the seasons, to the source of our food, and to the everyday moments that make life truly good.
Join Me and the Herron & Hen family at the table—try a farm-fresh egg, savor a tomato warmed by the sun, or brighten a drink with mint picked that morning. My aim is modest and heartfelt: to bring joy through small things.
