Farm fresh eggs
Our backyard chickens roam the yard all day, free-ranging through sunlit grass and flower beds—hunting bugs, fluttering after flies, and mischievously attempting to unearth the garden—while we steward their impact by composting their droppings and bedding to enrich the soil that feeds our other produce. We balance their foraging with a carefully considered diet: quality feed, protein-rich snacks such as fly larvae and sunflower seeds, and seasonal indulgences that keep them eager and healthy—frozen watermelon chunks, frozen peas, and blueberries are particular favorites. This cyclical care—letting them engage natural behaviors, supplementing nutrition where needed, and returning their waste to the earth—creates a harmonious loop that nurtures both bird and garden.
